    65 Valiant build

Nothing wrong with that work! I've seen repairs done by licensed bodymen that didn't look half as neat as that...

    ... and then this happened

They showed up today - unannounced - and did some of what they missed. But, the roof, although better, is still showing unevenness where the rafters and sheeting was replaced, they again missed the damaged garage eavestrough, and the metal cladding above the kitchen door still looks like a...

Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Try some Meguiar's Final Detail for that compound clean-up. Never tried it on upholstered panels, but it's worked for me elsewhere. Let it sit on the spots for a few minutes to soften them up. Dried compound can be a nightmare, as it's slightly acidic.

    ... and then this happened

I've been around contractors my whole life, never had the issues that others have had. Lucky, I guess. I've seen some truly horrific "repairs" done by some folks... I learned a long time ago to ask questions and take nothing for granted.

    ... and then this happened

The roofers were here last week to repair the damage. Surprisingly, it wasn't near as bad as thought, and the structure was repaired, sheeted, chimney leveled to roof level and sheeted over, and the barrier, ice shield and shingles done, fascia cladding and eavestrough replaced in just under 2.5...

    GM + EV = Bad.

Mrs. resto's '21 Jetta cut the heated seats, remote start, high setting on the heater blower motor, 3 out of 4 power windows unless vehicle was stopped, and a whole lot of now-forgotten goodies when the "check engine" light came on. A module that controlled a power vent for the fuel system had...

"...the U.S. Fed passed a similar law a couple years back, then rescinded it upon realizing the technology isn't there. " Our Feds are too wrapped up in themselves to arrive at that conclusion... Our basic generating capacity isn't anywhere close to being up to the task, let alone the...

    GM + EV = Bad.

For a while i thought I'd finish the Beetle and then put it up for sale. But... with our Feds stating no new ICE cars for sale by 2035, I think I'll finish the car, stock up on as many spare parts as I can, and keep the thing going for as long as it holds together.

    GM + EV = Bad.

A good friend owns a local towing company. A conversation a few weeks ago and he tells me, in spite of the warmer weather, they've been fairly busy recovering hybrid and electric vehicles. "They're a life-saver for us!" Our neighbour, Bill, bought a Focus Hybrid a few years ago. Nice looking...

    Really Bad Cover Songs

My thrice-weekly visits to the chiropractor has me subjected to whatever the hell kind of muzak they're pumping in to the waiting room... I know that every one is a cover song of something, but the horror is so real that I'm trying to scrub it all from my memory, but one that is firmly rooted is...

    Enough with the 1974 Challengers!

The 318 I culled from a '78 Aspen wasn't up to the corner-carver job at the best of times, but it did stall at every corner till it was fully warmed up. :)

    Enough with the 1974 Challengers!

My '78 LeBaron was full of body rust, including the rockers, when I got it for free, but the floors and frame were pretty much spotless. The rear wheel wells were a mix of good and bad. Some Arizona sheetmetal and some quarter panel work and I drove it for three years before someone else decided...

    Enough with the 1974 Challengers!

My '77 Aspen was a rotted mess when I got it for free in '87. But it was a brown, four slant six car so it was ok. I did drive it for three years. Best car in snow I've ever seen. When I still lived in Cape Breton, one of my buddies worked in the service dept of Cape Breton Chrysler. He had...

    Enough with the 1974 Challengers!

I owned a '76 Volare. Actually, it was a Road Runner. Surprisingly, it was rust-free when I owned it in '82. Really surprising, given that it was an east coast car.

Uh oh. As the former King of Taking on too Many Projects and Not Getting Them Done on Time, get after them. I hated taking money up front. I've not seen any good ever come from it.

My 71 Duster work in progress

Acetone will kill them and then some. Put it in a sprayer and the little b*stards will shrivel up mid-flight. Not as good as brake clean or carb cleaner, but it's pretty darn good. ;)
