It might work, but it's fairly dense stuff, like 69.5 said... Here is the reason I strongly suggested a new roof skin: anything that needs to be squeezed in between the roof panel and the brace is going to exert pressure on the panel, and push it out of it's "natural" shape. Add in some heat...

As far as I know, no one ever glued hoods and decklids... at least not any one back before the era of very-modern assembly line practices of adhesives and rivets.

Back when the car was built, the material between the skin and the brace was just an asphalt-based rubber pad. The skin was never bonded to the braces. If it was my car, I'd be using a soft spray foam specifically designed for roofs and hoods, side crash beams, etc. I've seen guys use seam...

    but what is it?!?!?!?

There was a short article in Hot VWs or VW Trends about it years ago... like a "I found this in the neighbourhood" kind of article. Those must be pretty hefty spacers for the rear wheels! That is most definately not a VW front axle beam... And, I bet it's a blast to drive through and out of the...

    found by mistake

On the Island... and looks like it has some very serious rust. But, at least it's butt-ugly! :)

Tell that bank to do as you ask, or you will find another financial institution that can handle your affairs.

    My wife did what?

It's worth a shot. Matching that gold paint will be tricky. But, you've been lucky to find this gem, so your luck might hold in the finding-a-door-in-the-right-hue department. :)

We'got a problem around here with squirrels, and chipmunks. No one has been attacked though... and I think XL still lives in town.

It's not uncommon to see a variation in reveal clips retainers. I did an original-paint '70 Duster a while back that had one entire side with the clips retained by studs along the top, and the other side had screws. Most I've seen were with screws, though. Drip rail rust... One of the toughest...

    My wife did what?

I've owned maybe two dozen A bodies in varying conditions over the years. A fair number of them had these wheel discs.

A regular paint brush or two. Soft bristles, NOT vinyl bristles. 1" and/or 2" work for just about every application.

Lacquer thinners. Acetone flashes too quickly. A brush, a few rags, masking tape, a few spreaders of different widths, patience. :)

The roof braces were most likely originally isolated from the roof skin by a rubber-like mat bonded to the underside of the roof skin. The roof skin was never bonded in any way to the braces. With the temperature extremes a roof skin goes through, the contraction and expansion of thin steel over...

I've lost count of how many times I've pinched my fingers on a slide hammer... The trick to using the slide hammer is pull only enough to move the metal. Some guys try to muscle their way through it, and end up with little hills of sheet metal everywhere they attached a stud. You might find (I...

Good to hear! When you take the studs off, clamp a Vise-Grip on the head and rotate the stud. Less chance of pulling steel away with the stud...
