I know they're used SOooo much. :D So, I wanted to let everyone know of a change that I made.

I've removed the ability to create Blogs and Blog entries from the Registered Users group.

There is still a group that has the appropriate permissions and I would guess that all of the regulars are already in that group.
I won't say what group it is because that would just give the spammers something to target.

..and that's why I've had to make this change. The latest thing is to sign up and post spam in the blogs. It flies under the radar relative to other forum activity. They've upped their activity here in the last few days.

By moving the permissions to this other group, new registrants won't be able to post blog entries right away. It will take a little bit of activity on the forum to gain that privilege.

If anyone that's a real member (new or old, and even "Ye Olde") of the board and just wants to participate, wants to post a blog entry, and can't, let me know and I'll fix it for you.
I don't want to make things difficult for new folks to join in the fun and contribute, but I needed to put up some road block to keep that junk away from here.

If anyone needs any cheap Loui Vitton knockoffs, I have a few dozen links that you can try. [smilie=J:

Does this have anything to do with that ass-hat I found? :D

I'm thinking I know the rule, but I'm not going to say anything about it.

Yeah, they have never been so active before. I usually get them before they get to do anything.

I've seen them do that much times 10 on other forums.
I didn't understand why those other forums were getting hammered. We were doing pretty much the same stuff to guard against them.

I guess the spammers just hadn't found us here yet.

These changes will stop them in their usual methods. At least in terms of posting to the blogs.

I expect they will still sign up with the same intention. So, I'll still have to delete them, but at least we've taken away one place for them to dump their links.

Blogs are gone.

There weren't many anyway. Mostly tire kickers.

I tried to import them as threads, but the importer was a bit wonky.
